Maikuu mõtted kokkuvõtvalt II osa

Vanem Henry B. Eyeringi kõne oli lihtsalt suurepärane.  "Each of us who has listened has heard ...counsel on the importance of a mother in the home." Mulle meeldis tohutult järgnev mõte - "Those with keys are responsible to warn even when their counsel might not be followed."

Vanem Monte J. Brought jätkas kutses teenimise teemadel.  Meid on kutsutud teenime nendes kutsetes, mitte meie endi soovi ja tahte pärast, ega ka mitte seepärast, et oleme teistest paremad või ära teeninud mingi "parema" ameti, vaid Issandale teada oleval eesmärgil ja põhjusel. (Vt 2. Timoteosele 1:8-9)  "It is very dangerous for any of us to think we have earned the right to a Church calling."

Vanem Sheldon F. Childi kõnest sain veidi nõu, kuidas paremaks lapsevanemaks saada.  Ometi meie peres kahjuks see kuidas tema isa teda kasvatas eriti ei toimi.  Järelikult see ikka oleneb lapsest ka.  Carliga ei ole mingit probleemi, ma teen nimekirja  või plaani sellest mis tuleb ära teha ja ta teeb.  Teiste lastega kahjuks nii lihtne ei ole.  Sain kinnitust, et väärtuskasvatus on endiselt vajalik - ausus, vooruslikkus. 

"When we say we will do something, we do it.

When we make a commitment, we honor it.

When we are given a calling, we fulfill it.

When we borrow something, we return it.

When we have a financial obligation, we pay it.

When we enter into an agreement, we keep it."

 

Mulle meeldis tohutult ka vanem Dennis E. Simmonsi kõne Pühast Vaimust.  "The Holy Ghost is a personage of spirit who generally communicates not through physical senses but by touching the heart and mind—in other words, He speaks through thoughts, impressions, and feelings and does so softly."

 

Ja muidugi vanem Hollandi kõne, mis ei saa lihtsat kedagi külmaks jätta.:)  "Yours is the work of salvation, and therefore you will be magnified, compensated, made more than you are and better than you have ever been as you try to make honest effort, however feeble you may sometimes feel that to be."  Mul oli just eile selline päev, kui ma tundsin, et enam ei jaksa.  Aga õnneks on mul imeline abikaasa, kes teadis täpselt kuidas mind aidata.  Tegelikult olen ma nii õnnelik, jah on raske, ma ei eita seda, aga on ka palju ilusat ja toredat ja imelist:)

Maikuu mõtted kokkuvõtvalt I osa

Lugesin möödunud kuul 1997 aasta aprillikuist üldkonverentsi Ensigni.  Mis ma oskan öelda...ma armastan üldkonverentse!
Kohe esimene kõne pani mind mõtlema.  "...we are building for the long term." Mu isa on ehitaja.  Talle on alati meeldinud ehitada selliseid hooneid, mis püsiksid.  Kvaliteet peab olema tagatud.  Vahel tuleb mõni asi uuesti teha.  Kui ma olin noor, ei saanud ma aru milleks.  See tundus raiskamisena, eriti aja raiskamisena.  Nüüd ma mõistan!  Me ehitame sarnaselt ka oma elu, iseennast, oma perekonda, kogudust, naabruskonda, ühiskonda.  Prohvet rääkis muidugi templite ehitamisest "We are trying to build in such a way and in such places across the world that these houses of the Lord may stand and serve through the Millennium.".  Minu jaoks oli see sõnum perekonnast. 

President Boyd K. Packeri kõne oli äärmiselt inspireeriv "...the study of the doctrines of the gospel will improve behavior quicker than talking about behavior will improve behavior." Kui keegi veel kahtleb selles, et miks peaks lastele/lastega lugema pühakirju, siis tema sõnad "Practical values, useful in everyday life, are found in the scriptures."  Me ei pea teadma kõike kohe, usk saab alguse soovist ja siirast küsimusest, millega me Isa poole võime pöörduda.  Ma olen seda ise kogenud.  Ma sain vastuse Joseph Smithi prohvetiks olemise kohta samal päeval, mõni tund enne ristimist.  Mul oli suur soov teada tõde.  Ma olin palvetanud mitmeid kordi ja arvasin teadvat, või pigem usaldasin neid kes mind õpetasid ja tundsin, et nende tunnistus oli siiras.  Aga tol päeval mõistsin, et ma ei või saada ristitud enne, kui ma ise tean, et see mida ma olin kuulnud ja lugenud, oli tõsi.  Ja ma sain vastuse.  Ma olen mõelnud nende peale, kes aina õpivad, ent kunagi ei suuda jõuda tõeni.  Nad on inimesed, kelle mõistus on rikutud ja kes on kõlbmatud usu poolest. (2. Timoteose 3:7,8) 

Õde Pingeari kõne oli tõeliselt hea.   Sealt on isegi raske mida välja tuua.  Enda pere jaoks sain küll mõned praktilised nõuanded/meeldetuletused. 
1.  Planeerida paremini oma pere asju, seada konkreetseid eesmärke.
2.  Pidada regulaarselt perenõukogu. 
“You need more than your own wisdom in rearing [your children]. You need the help of the Lord. Pray for that help and follow the inspiration which you receive” (“The Fabric and Faith of Testimony,” Ensign, Nov. 1995, 89).
"Now, love them, take care of them. Fathers, control your tempers, now and in all the years to come. Mothers, control your voices, keep them down. Rear your children in love, in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Take care of your little ones, welcome them into your homes and nurture and love them with all of your hearts” (Gordon B. Hinckley, Salt Lake University Third Stake conference, 3 Nov. 1996; in Church News, 1 Mar. 1997, 2).

President James E. Fausti tsitaat ütleb kõik:  "The father and mother are equal partners with different roles in nurturing and teaching their family members on the journey to immortality and eternal life." 

Pühade kogunemine

President Heber C. Kimball, üks kaheteistkümnest taastatud kiriku esimestest apostlitest, hiljem Bringham Youngi nõuandja esimeses presidentkonnas sai kunagi ilmutuse pühade kokku kogumisest ja sellele eelnevast.  Panen selle siia üles, endale ja oma järeltulijatele ning teistele, kellel sellest ehk kasu on. 

 "An army of Elders will be sent to the four quarters of the earth the search out the righteous and warn the wicked of what is coming. All kinds of religions will be started and miracles performed that will deceive the elect if that were possible. Our sons and daughters must live pure lives so as to be prepared for what is coming. After a while the Gentiles will gather by the thousands to this place and Salt Lake City will be classed among the wicked cities of the world. A spirit of speculation and extravagance will take possession of the saints, and the results will be financial bondage.

"Persecution comes next and all true latter-day Saints will be tested to the limit. Many will apostatize and others will be still not knowing what to do. Darkness will cover the earth and gross darkness the minds of the people. The judgments of God will be poured out on the wicked to the extent that our Elders from far and near will be called home, or in other words the gospel will be taken from the Gentiles and later on carried to the Jews.

"The western boundary of the State of Missouri will be swept so clean of its inhabitants that, as President Young tell us, when you return to that place, there will not be left so much as a yellow dog to wag his tail. Before that day comes, however, the Saints will be put to tests that will try the integrity of the best of them. The pressure will become so great that the more righteous among them will cry unto the Lord day and night until deliverance comes.

"Then the prophet and others will make their appearance and those who have remained faithful will be selected to return to Jackson County, Missouri, and take part in the up building of that beautiful city, the New Jerusalem."

Minu tänane pakitsev tunnistus

Täna hommikul tükkis mulle vägisi pähe üks mõte ja taipasin, et pean selle kohta jagama täna tunnistust.  Kahjuks ei olnud mul selleks aga kirikus võimalust, kuna kirgi küttis üles ühe venna rassismimaiguline sõnavõtt, mille järel hordidena inimesed tunnistama soovisid tulla.  Iseenesest oli tore, et nii palju tunnistada soovijaid oli:)
Kuna ma aga pean Püha Vaimu õhutusele reageerima, siis jagan enda tunnistust seekord siin.
Me kasvatame oma lapsed üles vaenlase territooriumil.  Jah, see vastane, kelleks on Saatan - kõigi valede isa, kes soovib meid tõmmata alla põrgusse ja teha sama õnnetuks kui ta ise on.  Vastane ei maga, ta on alati valmis, kui me vaid talle võimaluse anname.  Kui tegemist oleks reaalse, füüsilise sõjaga, ei saadaks me oma väikesi lapsi kesk lahinguvälja.  Ma usun, et me hoiaksime neid enese lähedal.  Tegelikult teeksime me kõik, et neil oleks võimalikult turvaline.  Me õpetaksime neid hoiduma ohust ja püüaksime kõigest  väest neid kaitsta, isegi oma elu hinnaga.  Vähemalt mina teeksin seda...  Meil ei ole tegemist tänapäevase lahingutehikaga, ometi on vaimne sõda isegi hullem.  Vaimne surm on midagi palju õudsamat. 
Nii nagu muistsed nefilased peaksime ka meie kindlustama kaitsemüüre, mitmekordistama valvet.  Meie kodud on loodud olema kindlused maailma kurjuse eest.  Ainult kodu saab võrrelda pühaduselt templiga.  Me ei tohiks lasta miskil ebapühal ega -puhtal tulla meie koju.  Ma tean, et Taevane Isa armastab oma lapsi.  Nad olid tema omad, enne meie lasteks saamist.  Ta on usaldanud nad meie hoolde.  Ta on andnud meile juhised. 
Ma tean, et Jeesus Kristus elab.  Meil on elav prohvet.  Pühakirjad on Jumala sõna.  Evangeeliumi täius on maa peal. Jeesuse Kristuse nimel, aamen.

Tõeline rõõm

Hea sõber küsis minult mõni päev tagasi, et mis on minu kirg - see miski mis teeb elu elamisväärseks ja nauditavaks. Küsimusest üllatunult vastasin, et need on väikesed asjad, nagu jalutuskäik looduses või koos lastega laulmine.  Hiljem omaette mõtiskledes taipasin, et tegelikult  pakuvadki täiesti tavalised väikesed asjad mulle naudingut.  Mul ei ole tõepoolest õnneks palju vaja:)  Kuigi vajan regulaarselt aega mõtisklemiseks, palvetamiseks, ettevalmistuseks, siis sisuliselt teen ma ka kõike seda teiste heaks, nii et võib öelda, et sellist asja nagu minu oma aeg polegi.

Mõni aeg tagasi jäi mulle kõrvu üks 1971 aasta üldkonverentsi imehea kõne, Joseph Anderson  "Eternal Joy Eternal Growth". 

"Life is largely worthless unless it is held together, given shape and form by some great purpose, and there is no greater purpose than that of helping our fellowmen as well as ourselves to attain the glorious salvation which our Lord has promised to his obedient children."

Mina olen alati tundnud, et mu elul on sügavam mõte.  Evangeeliumi valgus on andnud mu elule eesmärgi.  Ma tean kes ma olen ja mida Isa mult ootab. 

"We must pay a price for everything we get, whether of a temporal or spiritual nature, and we generally get about what we pay for. If, for instance, I should purchase a suit of clothes, in order to get the best material, the best style, and the proper fit, I must pay a higher price than if I am satisfied with a suit made of shoddy material and poor workmanship. Likewise if I desire to purchase a home, an automobile, or whatever it may be. If I seek intellectual values, I must pay the price by study, research, by devoted effort and ofttimes sacrifice. The same is true of spiritual values. One cannot expect to inherit eternal life if he is not willing to pay the price and to do the things required for such salvation and exaltation. "

Ma ei tunne, et käsud mind piiraksid.  Sootuks vastupidi!  Ma olen tohutult õnnelik, et Taevane Isa on teinud minuga lepingud, nende kohaselt elades tunnen ma rahu. Mul on lootus ja teadmine, et Tema peab oma lubadusi.   

“The tree that never had to fight

For sun and sky and air and light,

But stood out in the open plain

But lived and died a scrubby thing.

Who never had to win his share

Tõeline printsess võitleb vaenlasega

“When Satan wants to disrupt the work of the Lord, he doesn’t poison the world’s peanut butter supply, thus bringing the Church’s missionary system to its collective knees. He doesn’t send a plague of laryngitis to afflict the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. He doesn’t legislate against green Jell-O or casseroles. When Satan truly wants to disrupt the work of the Lord, he attempts to confuse gender and attacks God’s plan for His spirit children. He works to drive a wedge of disharmony between a father and a mother. He entices children to be disobedient to their parents. He makes family home evening and family prayer inconvenient. He suggests family scripture study is impractical and not doable. That’s all it takes, because Satan knows that the surest and most effective way to disrupt the Lord’s work is to diminish the effectiveness of the family and the sanctity of the home.
“Look at what he accomplishes when he does that. Couples unhappy in their marriages tend not to give appropriate gospel instruction in the home, both through formal family home evening lessons and through exemplary living. They are less likely to be committed to gospel principles in their own lives. Some drift from the Church. Apathy can overcome even the active members, keeping them away from the temple and weakening their capacity to be effective leaders and teachers–thus leaving countless lives untouched and slowing the Lord’s work. And the Internet, when not properly used, is a vicious influence in the home. So we know, without question, Lucifer is the enemy of the family!”
